Veteran music composer Ilaiyaraja has rendered his voice for Simbu.  

Ilaiyaraja has sung the song composed by his son Yuvan Shankar Raja for 'Silambattam'. 

An elated Simbu says that, "I was delighted at Ilaiyaraja crooning for me along with Shreya Goshal. It's a dream come true. We saw the father son duo rock in 'Tamil MA'." 

Buzz is that the melody has been shot beautifully by director Saravanan. 'Silambattam' would be released soon after Deepavali.

Silambattam backs out of Diwali race!

Simbu's Silambattam which was supposed to release for Diwali has been now been pushed to November.

The film which is very crucial for Simbu has been postponed as two more songs are yet to be shot and the actor is down with a viral fever. Otherwise the talkie portion, RR including DI for the film is done.

So now the likely Diwali releases are- Aegan, Seval, Guru En Aalu and Vaaranam Aayiram . In one way, producers Lakshmi Movie Makers wants a solo release so that the film takes a good opening. The film has turned out well, according to sources close to the unit and now the film will be ready for release by November middle.

Ajith vs Surya vs Simbu in Deepavali?

With Deepavali hardly a month away, the race has begun to get movies into theaters in time for the festival weekend. At the moment, however there is only one confirmed entrant for the Deepavali weekend and that happens to be Simbu's Silambattam. He will be searching for an elusive hit and Silambattam seems to have the right credentials for the same. The movie will feature Simbu in a dual role for the first time after Manmadhan.

Meanwhile, with Silambattam as the sole confirmed entrant, at least three others are bending their backs to get into theaters for what will be a fairly quite Deepavali. Bharath's Seval under the direction of commercial rural action king Hari is almost ready and the promos are already on air suggesting the usual Hari fare of action in the village milieu. The rugged looks of Bharath have drawn attention. Also Hari's impeccable record when it comes to action flicks has made the movie go a bit high on the expectation meter.

But, all eyes are on the other two gearing up for release. Vaaranam Aayiram and Aegan may clash on Deepavali for sparks to fly, if everything goes as planned. Reports suggest that the works are progressing with fervor to meet the date and nothing can be said as yet. But, with the music released and the promos on air, Vaaranam Aayiram seems to be the more bankable option to make it for the festival season, but Aegan can by no means be ruled out. One need not talk about the expectations that these two movies have generated and if they do face off, it will be one great Deepavali.

Audio trailer for 'Silambattam'

Lakshmi movie makers' 'Silambattam', stars Simbu and debutante Sana Khan in the lead roles. Cinematographer Saravanan directs this film which has Simbu in the role of a Hindu, Brahmin priest. Prabhu Ganesan plays the role of an inspector in 'Silambattam'.

The film has music scored by Yuvan Shankar Raja and three songs of the film 'Nalamthana' – the remix of the evergreen classic song from the film 'Thillana Mohanambal', 'Thamizh', a typical hero-glorification song and 'Ennavo Pannala' a peppy number with mischief as the backdrop have been set to good music and are expected to become chart busters.

Currently, the climax scenes are being shot for the movie. The crew of 'Silambattam' has done something very new that they have come up with an audio trailer for the film for the first time, unlike in the rest of the movies which usually release the trailer with audio-visuals

Simbu's Silambattam has raised the expectation levels of his fans by the star's decision to showcase three songs on popular websites. The latest news that is sure to have Simbu's fans in frenzy is that Ilaiyaraja is to lend his voice for Silambarasan. Singing along with Ilaiyaraja is Shreya Koshal. The song will be picturised on Simbu and Sneha. Sources close to the team say that the melodious song konduputta konduputta… has come out very well and is sure to top the charts.

Silambattam Remix Song

Actor Simbu has a passion for playback singing. In spite of his busy schedule, the actor finds time to sing.

He had sung for several actors including Sarath Kumar, Ravikrishna, Shaam among others. The actor had recently sung for the movie Ennai Theriyuma. The movie has music by debutant Achu and it features Manoj, son of popular Telugu film personality Mohan Babu in the lead role.

Says Simbu,"Manoj is my childhood friend. When he and his father made a request to me to sing a song in their movie, I cannot deny".

Simbu's next 'Silambattam' features a song 'Vachikava Unna Mattum Nenjikulla' from the yesteryear superstar Rajinikanth starrer 'Nallavanukku Nallavan'. The actor himself lends his voice for the remix version of the song.

Yuvan Sankar Raja Audio Launch on Aegan and Silambattam

Yuvan Shankar Raja is going to have back-to-back audio launches. It is a rare feat for a music director to have audio launches of two of his films, one after another.

On September 30, the audio of Simbu's Silambattam, which has music by Yuvan is scheduled.

Simbu and Yuvan have always rocked together from Manmathan to Vallavan. So a lot is riding on Silambattam's music.

Next day on October 1, is the audio launch of Ajith's Aegan. Who can forget the peppy songs of the deadly combo in Dheena and Billa ?

Recently Ajith had told Raju Sundaram, the director of the film that he is very happy with the music of Aegan.

Silambattam Audio release on Sep30

Silambattam, the upcoming film with Simbu in the lead role will witness its audio release on the 30th of September. This film is directed by Saravanan and produced by Lakshmi Movie Makers. Simbu will have two Sneha as his arm candies, one is the debutant Sneha Ullal who is said to be a look alike of Aishwarya Rai and the other is the smiling siren Sneha.
Music for Silambattam is scored by Yuvan Shankar Raja. While talking about the audio of the film Simbu says, "My combination with Yuvan has always rocked starting from Manmadan to Vallavan. I expect the same magic to be woven this time also and I am sure the audio of Silambattam will be liked by one and all and will be a great hit." Another interesting trivia about this film is that Simbu has penned a song and rendered his voice also. Wishing Silambattam a great success.

“I am being targeted”: Simbu

Simbu has denied media reports about the incident, that he called up cops and reported that his car was stolen by his driver.

According to the article, in early hours of Wednesday, Simbu had called up the police control room from Speed, a night club at Grand Orient Hotel, Chennai reporting that his driver had stolen his car!

As per media reports, Simbu and his younger brother Kuralarasan had dropped in at the night club and asked the driver to wait, but later when the driver called up their mother Usha Rajendran, she instructed him to come back.

The media reports also stated that she wanted to teach her sons (brats who were unmanageable!) a lesson for their late coming.

"How can they fabricate such a story when I am away in Sri Lanka shooting with Sneha and my Silambattam unit for two songs? I left Chennai on September 3 and was back yesterday morning (Sunday Sep 14) to hear this horrifying report. This is not the first time that a section of media has been targeting me".

Simbu tells us that his brother had gone for a party with friends and when he came back the car and driver were missing in the parking lot of the hotel. He called up his mom who made a police complaint.

Silambattam's audio launch?

The audio launch of Silambattam has been postponed at the behest of its hero Simbu. It is now said that the official audio release will be held only after October 4th. The reason cited for this delay is that Simbu is keen that the songs turn out to be chartbusters and has asked music director Yuvan Shankar Raja to work on remixing the Vechukava Unna Mattum Nenjukulla song.
Simbu has sung this song along with RJ Suchi. It is believed that the song will top the charts just as Suchi-Simbu combination Yen Aasai Mythiliye and Yemmadi Aathaadi proved to be. Silambattam will also have another remix Nalam Thaana making it the first film to have two remixes.

The other tracks in the film are Thamil endra naan, Konnuputta, and Nalam Thana.

Diwali release

Diwali 2008, traditionally the second biggest festival in Tamilnadu is round the corner (October 27). As usual, Kollywood producers, distributors are just waking up to the season, and the line-up is still not clear.

As of now, no theatre has any confirmed booking for Diwali films. Some producers and distributors have asked them to block the dates, further to negotiations. Seven films are looking at a Diwali release, depending on MG amount and theatre dates.

The producers, who are now talking of a Diwali release, need not release it for the festival. It depends on a lot of factors and as all of them are yet to release their audio. The list may change at the last minute as some may opt out while others may come in.

The tentative list is as follows.

Simbu remixes in Rajini film

It sure is the decade of remixes in Kollywood. Scores of yesteryear popular chartbusters are being remixed these days. Joining the long list is 'Vachukava Unnai Mattum' a very popular song from Rajinikanth's hit film 'Nallavanukku Nallavan'.

Music composer Dhina has remixed the song for Silambarasan's 'Silambattam'. Moreover, the actor has crooned the song himself. This being a peppy number, it was shot featuring a large number of dancers recently.

'Silambattam' is fast nearing completion and would hit the screens very soon. Meanwhile, after completing 'Silambattam', Simbu will start shooting for 'Poda Podi', which is to be shot extensively in Canada. Sarath Kumar's daughter Varalaxmi plays his heroine.

Shreya’s ‘Silambattam’

We all have 24 hours for a day but looking at the number of films Shreya is acting in, looks like 48 hours for a day is not enough. In Tamil, she has 'Kandasamy,' 'Azhagiya Thamizh Magan' and a new film with Ajith. She has two films in Telugu. Simbu as Billa

Silambarasan has expressed his admiration for Ajith on several occasions. His maiden directorial venture 'Vallavan' saw Silambarasan play a youth who admires Ajith. 'Kaalai' featured him with a few scenes with posters of Ajith. The actor seems to have gone a step ahead now and will be appearing with the 'Billa' look in his forthcoming venture 'Silambattam'. According to sources, Simbu comes in 'Billa' attire in the climax scene with the same background scored used for Ajith. Anu Vardhan (wife of director Vishnuvardhan), the costume designer of 'Billa' made some changes in the same suit that Ajith wore for 'Billa', to fit Simbu's size. After a hectic shooting schedule in Pollachi just a few days ago, the Silambattam team is gearing up once again to go back. Sources have it that Silambarasan and his team will go to Pollachi, perhaps this month end, to complete the rest of the talky portion in Silambattam. The team is tipped to camp in Pollachi for about ten days to accomplish this task. With just three songs remaining to be canned, the unit is preparing to go abroad to can the dance sequences. In all probability, the Silambattan team will leave for their trip abroad after returning from the Pollachi shooting.

Silambattam Songs -Rachna, Maurya and 100 girls

A song shot in a grand and aesthetically appealing set which costs a fortune, with a bevy of beauties dancing along, has always been the cynosure of his father T. Rajendar's films, and it is also so now in his films. Simbu makes sure every film of his has a song with a grand set and eye-popping models. While performing a dance sequence under dance master Ashok Rajan for the movie Silambattam, the movements involved Simbu to neel and get up on his knees a couple of times for the fast beats of the song. On the third take for the dance movement, Simbu hurt his leg joint and was rushed to the hospital. He was ordered bed rest by the doctor. However the good hearted Simbu, does not want his producer or the dance artistes who perform with him to undergo any kind of stress, financial or otherwise due to him. So he is back to work, ignoring his pain. By not attending a days work, his producer will incur a loss of 5 lakhs and all the 250 dance artistes will have no job that day. Hence the decision to ignore his pain by Simbu.

It has been officially announced that Kajal Agarwal plays the second heroine in Silambarasan's 'Silambattam'. Director Saravanan made an extensive search before zeroing in on Kajal Agarwal. Silambattam’: Dhina out Yuvan in

Yuvan Shankar Raja, the favorite music director of Silambarasan, has been roped in for the film 'Silambattam'. This has effectively puts Dhina, the original music composer of the film, out of the project. Dhina however, has no regrets, as the decision was taken by Silambarasan after consulting him. Though Simbu, who has a special taste for music, has high regards for Dhina's talents, he prefers Yuvan, as both of them work brilliantly as a team to bring out excellent stuff. So Simbu decided to go for Yuvan and he explained his feelings to Dhina, who gracefully accepted to step down. The decision is also viewed by some as a two-in-one strategy of Silambarasan. Since Yuvan does music for 'Kettavan', Silambarasan might have thought that the time spent for the composing could be useful for both films. Simbu Silambattam Movie Preview

Lakshmi Movie Makers launched their 25th film, Silambattam starring Silambarasan and debutante Sanaa Khan at AVM Studios on December 7. A large gathering of film luminaries attended the function. Silambarasan nee Simbu sported an orthodox Brahmin look and faced the camera along with heroine Sanaa at the Lord Vinayaka temple in the studio complex. Later addressing the media, the irrepressible actor said in a lighter vein that since people called him a good guy now, he is playing a soft role. He hastens to add that how and why a soft-spoken gentle orthodox youngster turns into a volcano form the crux of the theme. "It is a positive character in an action entertainer." He attended the shoot with a bandaged finger. The actor suffered an injury while shooting for his forthcoming film, Kalai. Undaunted he completed the day's work for the film. Heroine Sanaa Khan is a model from Mumbai and says it is her first film assignment. Another heroine has to be chosen. John Vijay who made a mark with Oram Po plays the antagonist. Cinematographer Saravanan debuts as the director with Silambattam. "To concentrate more as a filmmaker I entrusted the job of cinematography to my friend and erstwhile associate Madhi," he said. "Set in rural and city ambience, the shoot will take place in Kumbakonam, parts of South Tamil Nadu and in Chennai, he disclosed. Dhina composes the music. Producers Muralidharan and Swaminathan hoped that their 25th film would run as many weeks.

Silambattam' is directed by Saravanan starring Silambarasan in the lead role. The director is in search of a theatre to tell his story on screen. The story of the film has a theatre as one of its strong components. Saravanan, while writing the story had the Virumbakkam National theatre, which is located in the outskirts of Chennai in his mind. But before he could ask the owners of the hall Ilayathalapathy Vijay had purchased the hall and started constructing a shopping complex in that place. The film ongoing off shooting and pooja at the Pillayar temple in AVM Studios. The VIPs of Tamil cinema were present with their good wishes and Simbu gave a shot of praying at the temple. "Suddenly they have started calling me a good man. To keep that image, I have started compliant positive roles," said a seriously joking Simbu holding his injured thumb every now and then as it smarted. "The story is to be found in Kumbakonam. Simbu as temple priest is a calm man. An incident disrupts this calm man and how it transforms him into an destructive man is the story line," says director Saravanan. Shooting is to take place at Thiruvaiyaru, Thirunelveli, Tenkasi, Visakapatnam and Rajamundry. Does Simbu know Silambattam? "I have learnt Silambattam when I was a small boy. I have not taken exacting training for this film." Simbu also announced that'Silambatatm' would be released before'Kettavan.'

Simbu’s new Avatar

Silambarasan, known for young-looking action roles, has stepped into a poles apart role. He plays a pious man in his forthcoming film Silambattam. The movie, which is launched tomorrow, will have him playing the role of a temple priest.The chief priest, however, will turn a warrior when getting rubbed on the wrong side. The movie is said to have two heroines one of whom is tipped to be Sana Khan from Mumbai. The film will be the 25th production of Lakshmi Movie Makers. It will be a maiden venture of cinematographer Saravanan as director.Simbu's Kaalai might hit the screens by Pongal, 2008 while his Kettavan is shelved for the time being. Going by the remix mania, Silambattam is believed to have the classical song "Nalamthaanaa" from Sivaji Ganesan's 'Thillaana Mohanambal'.

Simbu`s `Silambattam`

Simbu will not have a release in 2007. His last release was Vallavan, in November 2006 Diwali. Now he has accomplished the shoot of his Kaalai, which the trade is hoping will hit the screens for Pongal 2008. The boy has an opening and if he plays his cards well, he will become the fastest rising star among the young guns of Kollywood!

This Friday (December 7) Simbu is going to start his new film Silambattam, for the impressive banner Lakshmi Movie Makers (LMM) for whom it will be their 25th film. It is also going to be the executive debut of cameraman Saravanan, a buddy of Simbu.

Guess what role Simbu is in performance in the film? He is going to don the role of a Apaavi (innocent) 'Poojari' in a temple who due to definite state of affairs is forced to take law into his hand!

The shoot of the film will take place in the temple towns of Kumbakonam, Tiruvayur, Tirunelveli, Tenkasi and towns like Vizag, Rajhamundhry, and Hyderabad in Andhra. The star cast will also have Santhanam, Ganja Karuppu, Karnas and music by Dheena.

And the most imperative aspect in a Simbu film is the heroine. He and director Saravanan are going to launch Sana Khan a new Mumbai girl.

Remix in Silambaattam!

Remixes highlight today's trend in song symphony for films.

Now it is Simbu's turn to feature an oldiest set to new and popular instrumentation. Simbu's Manmadhan had one of the best remixes 'En Asai Maithiliye' lifted from his father Vijaya.T. Rajendar's hit.

Now Silambaattam has 'Nalamthaanaa' from the classic Sivaji film Thillana Mohanambal.

Silambaattam, produced by Lakshmi Movie Makers and directed by cinematographer Saravanan, has Simbu in the lead role. Music is by Dheena.

Of course, audience will be curious to see how this song with a classical base is going to get dressed up with modern sounds.

Sneha in ‘Silambattam’

Simbu has a strange luck when it comes to heroine Sneha his films. On one hand, he has cool characters like Yana Gupta and Mandira Bedi. On the other he has a confusing Lekha

After 'Kaalai' and 'Kettavan,' Simbu is acting in 'Silambattam.' It is the first film directed by cinematographer Saravanan. After a tiny break from production, Lakshmi Movie Makers produce this film.

Simbu has two heroines in the film. Producer K Muralidharan says Sneha is one of the heroines, but Sneha herself is rather feeble over this.

Sneha is acting day and night as she has 7 film assignments on hand – 3 in Telugu and 4 in Tamil namely 'Aruvadai,' 'Pirivom Sandhippom,' 'Inba' and 'Pandi.'

Sneha - "Because I have no free dates, I could not act in 'Kaalai.' I would like to act in 'Silambattam' but the call sheet…" She lags.

The producer seems wedged on having Sneha as the heroine, so she may well end up doing silambattam!

Sneha With Simbu in Silambattam ?

Simbu's Silambattam is Lakshmi Movie Makers 25th film which will also be the first appearance of noted cameraman

Saravanan as a director. The shooting of this movie is going to start soon. Silambarasan is acting as the hero in the movie.

There are two heroines in this movie and Sneha has been approach for one of the heroine role.

It can be recalled that Sneha was made-up to act with Simbu in Kalai but could not because of call sheet problems. Now she

has been approched for Silambattam. Already she is doing three movies in Telugu. In Tamil she has Pirivom Sandipom with

Cheran, with Shaam, Aruvadai with Mammooty and Pandi; with Lawrence to finish. With all these movies to finish Sneha

might have problem giving call sheet to Silambattam. Let's see if Simbu gets to do the Silambattam with Sneha.
